In this video I am excited to share with you a system that can work for sharing one set of math flashcards for multiple children..while still keeping in line with the RC purist way of memorizing math facts. 

One thing that I REALLY appreciate about Dr. Lybrand is that he focuses on outcomes vs the perfect curriculum. This is a perspective that has truly changed how I view pretty much everything in life. This video is no way is trying to "dis" Ms. Nicole or those who use her videos, it's simply trying to help you see things in a different way with a long term outcome in mind. Ultimately, it's your choice the tools you use to achieve whatever your vision is.

If it's alright with you, I'd like to share a moment that both broke my heart and mended it this week.

As most of you might know I have a son with an I.E.P and with that means some learning challenges when it comes to homeschooling. Although his workload is the same as the others, there are areas where he excels and others that take him longer than his siblings.

Our current set up has to be where everyone does school work together at the kitchen table. My son confessed to me this week after asking why he seemed so gloomy, that this set up was the cause of a lot of anguish. He was more easily distracted by others, although he understood everyone is on their own timeline, he still felt bad seeing his younger sister pass him in math, and seeing the others start their writing assignments before him. He obviously needed more time and fewer distractions. 

My idea was that he wake up every morning at 5 am, a couple of hours before the others, to work on math in peace....

Today, we'll cover the 3 toxic myths about homeschooling that all beginners MUST break away from in order to achieve sustainable homeschooling.

Getting your mindset right is the #1 thing you have to conquer if you want to succeed in homeschooling. As the popular saying goes, "You are your worst enemy and best asset" ;-)

From serving many families through coaching calls, from all walks of life over the last couple of years, I can tell you that the best and most successful families are those with the right mindset and attitude, who have the right beliefs about homeschooling.

It's myth-busters time, my friend! Time to re-align your perspectives and make things right :)

Myth #1: "In order for my kids to learn, I have to do all the teaching.”

Sadly today there has been a falling away of writing as a family activity, one that traditionally maintained close-knit ties amongst family members throughout the generations. Do we make peace that such things are in the past and settle for instant messenger greetings and sending funny gifs on whats app?

Don't get me wrong, I am grateful for those quick communication tools, but that's not what I am talking about, I am talking about having a vision when it comes to writing.

It takes a certain kind of word lover to understand what I am talking about here and if that's not you, then I am afraid I won't be able to convince you. But if you "get it" read on...
