5 Reasons I Still LOVE The Robinson Curriculum 2022

Uncategorized Aug 31, 2022

Today I am sharing the top 5 reasons why I still love RC!

In a culture where it can become prevalent to switch things up every year, sticking with a self-teaching methodology focusing on the three R's can seem, well..rather dull.

In this video, I will address two forms of "boredom" that deal with the curriculum itself and the books on the RC book list. As you can imagine, both come down to MINDSET and REFRAMING for parents and kids.

In short, this WORKS is SUSTAINABLE and produces fantastic results; the cherry on the cake is that it's also highly affordable.

This quote best explains how you must do the mental work to enjoy, appreciate and move mountains fully with the simple.

I hope my courses Sustainable Homeschooling 101, RC Course for Littles, and even How to Run Your Home like a Franchise help you with the mindset component.

I will be going live this Friday to answer your questions! I hope to see you there. Not...

How to Save a Bad Homeschool Day | 11 Ways

Uncategorized Jun 06, 2022

I'm guessing you, too, have had days where the day was a flop despite your best intentions and game plan. If we are sincere, it's not always just a bad day; sometimes, it's a bad week, month, or few months. I know I have had crisis moments where I dealt with health challenges while pregnant and emotionally fragile. I am glad I pushed through, and it was because of that trial that I had to switch to something more sustainable..the Robinson Curriculum, and I never looked back.

Even with a fantastic self-study methodology, I still had my bad and hectic days and learned that my attitude towards the day was EVERYTHING. Seriously, if you think you are failing at this, you will. Suppose you re-frame it as an opportunity to learn differently while you get your bearings or take care of something..then WIN-WIN. Perhaps this lousy day mindset could be a topic for a future School House live- let me know if you would be interested in that!

So here are my top 11 ways to...

3 Arguments For Encouraging Your Kids To Read The Classics

new west press reading May 07, 2022

I remember the first time I read my first classic novel; it was an experience I will never forget. Why didn't I start doing this sooner? Why did I assume reading anything other than non-fiction to learn something practical was a waste of time? As Ma Ingalls would say.."For shame, for shame."

Growing up, I was a voracious reader, reading everything I could get my hands on, such babysitter club books, goosebumps, Highlights magazine, and books like "How to Eat Friend Worms."

While those books served their noble purpose of fostering a love of reading, I realize now that they didn't leave much room for personal growth. While fun books teach us the pleasures of escaping between the pages, classics teach us lessons we didn't know we needed to learn.

Today's video shows that while kids need to read what they love, it is also important as parents to steer them towards classic literature from time to time or more frequently. Having classics embedded into a homeschool...

Gigil Stem Kit Review

reviews science stem Apr 25, 2022

Efficiency is doing things right; effectiveness is doing the right things.

As a homeschooling mom, I appreciate GIGIL STEM kits as being both. It is efficient in delivering to my home a fun box with everything needed to complete several activities. There is no waste, just the necessary amount for each project, and I appreciate not having to run to the store and buy large quantities of items I only need one or a few of and then having to store the rest.

Educators create GIGL STEM kids for kids from Pre-K to 5th-grade ages. They contain hands-on activities, with a mixture of activity guides and instructions with video lessons. Each month explores a new theme in STEM.

As someone who focuses on the 3 R's for homeschooling, this is a perfect way to let my kids explore their interest and creativity in STEM-related areas.

Albert Einstein sums it up with his quote, "The whole of science is nothing more than a refinement of everyday thinking." The perfect win-win is allowing me to focus on...

Does Homeschooling Affect Social Connections?

Uncategorized Apr 21, 2022

Hi {{ first_name }},

The pandemic has impacted our way of life in various ways. I think one positive effect is the awareness of social connection and how important it is for everyone.

Also did you notice when kids were forced to stay home as well as many workers, that no one was concerned with socialization?

My husband is one of those people who now permanently works from home. No one, I assure you, is asking him "What about socialization?". No one would also say that working from home should not be an option because of it.

I doubt we will hear the socialization criticism anymore, but if it does come up you could ask if working from home jobs are harmful to adults because of lack of socialization?

I think this brings us to a better place of discussion, of course it would be ridiculous to altogether ban or label something as harmful, but rather yes social connection is important but it is the responsibility of the individual or in a minor's case, the parent.
